Contest Theme:
The theme of this contest is broad:
Science Fiction. (or, if you prefer, speculative fiction) -- a genre that, despite being present to some degree on Elfwood, is pretty scarce here in the Elftown community.
The goal of this contest is specifically to encourage more artists to try their hand at it; the only other explicitly SF contest I've found is
Science Fiction Contest, which took place over six months ago, so I think it's about time for another one.
Dystopian cyberpunk, soaring space opera, distant colony worlds and starfighter dogfights; all of these are examples of SF settings. If this concept is really totally alien to you, check out Wikipedia for a definition that should satisfy everyone:

Contest Rules:
Subject to change without notice.
1. Original Art Only, preferably art that has not already been submitted in another Elftown contest.
Any pictures found to be stolen will be
immediately disqualified and that member will be dealt with by me, [
Kaimee], as I am one of the
guards, and I will not be feeling lenient.
2. This is a
science fiction art contest. Magic, fantasy races, dragons, angels, faeries, and other similarly out of place elements should
not be present in submitted pieces of work,
even if they are presented in an otherwise SF setting.
3. Your submission must be
your own original work. Inking and coloring someone else's piece for purposes of submission in your name, even with their permission,
does not qualify for the purposes of this contest; however if you would
both like to enter
as a team, that is ok.
Fan art from fiction or literature is acceptable; fan art from comics or other visual media is not (in other words, no Star Wars or Star Trek art, please). Beyond that, please follow the
Uploading Art Rules.
4. Please limit yourself to no more than two entries.
5. Nudity is acceptable; pornography is not. You can figure out the difference. Also, if you do submit a picture with nudity, for god's sakes have a reason for why they're not wearing any clothes.
6. Submissions should be added to the bottom of this page with your name and a description of the piece, with <hr> separators between each numbered entry.

[Paul Doyle] Unintentional Led Zeppelin pun, but too late to change the name now :P Illustration for Telkar Chronicles:Book Two (working title) which I have recently started writing, and wasn't planning to illustrate until I've finished illustrating the completed, 595-page Book One. But I couldn't get this image out of my mind. This is the first time I have ever drawn a spaceship (or a space pic, period!), so try not to laugh too hard. :P

Basically, this is a relatively minor part of the overall story. I've yet to write the scene. Well-meaning yet arrogant "gunboat diplomacy" backfires very, very badly. I'm trying VERY hard not to make this one look like a "Star Wars" or "Star Trek" ripoff :P

This is a character who lives in a world where absurdity is a true part of life... It is written in a little part so i say it : on her shoulder, it is written "Kafka". I'm sure you know who is kafka, and if you know, you'll understand the drawing... :)

A silencer, ravaran and regenian, members of three alien species I designed for a story and an RPG. The silencer can detach the muscles and bones on its limbs so that it can make two smaller limbs out of one. The tentacle-like things on its back are energy-gathering organs, and it doesn't breathe; instead of lungs it has an energy-processing chamber. The tentalces are usually withdrawn inside the chamber. It also can't talk because of the lack of lungs and trachea and thus vocal cords. The ravaran is a very human-like creature, but it's more adapted to temperature changes and especially heat, and its culture has totally ridiculous cultural codes and rules (or so the other species think). The regenian is also somewhat human-like, but its mental capacity is by far the best of all the species. Its culture is also strange when compared to humans.
Sadly, the deadline crept up on me and I couldn't elaborate the background or color it, but at least I'll have this version if I don't mysteriously work myself to death and color it in a week.

Hell... so old, XD whatever, I guess it'll do. A couple of drawings I did a little over a year ago for an RPG i've been working on, the first one is an ACP officer, a police force who in reality are little more than thugs and criminal themselves.

And the second one is a member of the AC merchant guild. They are basically scrap hunters and mechanics that got together to form a guild. They are known for their resourcefulness, their hatred of the ACPD, and their robotic enhancements.

23. [Kyrinn] Always wondered if we ever went to space, would there be light houses to light the way? Called "Star House", I drew this for the Illustrators of the Future contest a few years ago. I didnt win, but this is an old favorate of mine. Took it into PSP for some effects..
